void motorDeath :(

Updated: Jan 6, 2018

As our last good motors start to "kick the screwbox", we have to start to get our heads together on new parts and moving past the frustration

{

This week the left front wheel of robot 2950A died. With new parts being out of our budget at the moment and APAC only a few weeks away, this couldn't come at a worse time. To top it off, we were about to start programming autonomous, which requires functioning motors and sensors.

The code and mechanics hadn’t been changed and worked perfectly previously, so we narrowed it down to either motor or motor controller problems. When we found the thorn in our C-Channel side, we had to come together and work out if it was something we were doing to cause the dying parts.

It was awful having to replace them over and over again. The worst thing was, we tried using every spare we could find and they wouldn’t work either way… when will we ever gain the knowledge to seek out all the problems we have with our robot?!
