2950 hits the road for the first time, taking both teams to APAC in Rotorua for their first international competition.

Last week we went to Rotorua for the Vex Asia Pacific Competition, where people from Asia and Oceania could compete similarly to Vex Nationals or Vex Worlds, but it doesn’t count towards those. So it’s basically like a HUGE 3-day scrimmage. 2950B had a bit of a rough start, but 2950A got 4th place after the first day! Sadly the results ended up quite differently at the end of the competition, but it doesn’t matter too much because these three days are basically like a big practice round.

Unsurprisingly there were a lot of Chinese teams, and MAN did they come to win. On the first day they held up the matches by an hour because they argued so much with the referees which was pretty funny.

Speaking of funny, we were looking at the Competition Manual and noticed that we had also been listed with an additional Vex IQ team, which we don't have. There had been a mixup in the listings, so it showed up as our school with team name “Eagledads”. We will never forget this blessing in disguise - we are the Eagledads forever.
